|
Introduction to MVSD
Project
Sabuj Sangha has been active in human development initiatives
for over three decades in this region. It initiated the MVSD
Project in November 2003 and its continuing with its activities
in order to achieve the defined goal and objectives.
|
|
The Project started with the
survey of the village in the field of education and health, the
findings were striking and it was observed that plenty of work
has remain to be done as the operational area of Sabuj Sangha
was far behind on an average minimum need. The distribution need
for the tube well for drinking water was not sufficient, proper
shelter was not there, there was no health unit or any
professional doctors available. The schools were over burden due
to lack of it. The drinking and Sanitation facilities was not
proper in the school basically for the girl students and
moreover the concept of “Personal Toilet” was absent as the
families did not have access to it.
So with the concept of gradually turning each village into a
Model village to improve the standard of Health and Education
but gradually it felt that the new livelihood options for the
poor has to be introduced. Construction of low cost housing has
to be done for the poorest of the poor people and the security
facilities for their economic development were also to b
introduced. So for the betterment of the community Sabuj Sangha
with the support of GOAL in this project ensured new scheme
under which, tube well has been installed, shelter has been
constructed, livelihood and Sanitation facilities were
introduced. Hospital has been constructed to stop the health
hazards for the people. For the betterment in the field of
education, schools, non residential camps, bridge course centers
were introduced to scale new heights of education for the young
generation to follow.
The project now covers 85,678 people living in 24 villages
across 4 Gram Panchayats in two blocks of South 24 Paraganas.
