peri-urban localities and in deep rural hinterland, using innovative
child friendly teaching method to mainstream them in formal school.
We also provide supportive coaching service to retain them in school

To ensure child’s right to protection Sabuj Sangha is
trying educational, skill training and awareness generation
interventions in island villages which are source areas of domestic
child workers to stop their flow to urban centres where they are
generally ill treated, physically or sexually abused, even
trafficked. Sabuj Sangha also provides emergency 24 hours toll free
telephone helpline 1098 to reach out to any child in
distress. |

Health Care Service |

Established a Rural health and training centre to provide
awareness on hygiene and healthcare practices related to water and
fly borne diseases, communicable diseases, emergency ambulance
service for 24 hours through boat/jeep. An OPD unit is looking after
treatment and referral service with help of specialist doctors with
supply of medicines. |

Women’s Empowerment to Entitlement |

Sabuj Jeevan Deep is a savings and credit based micro
finance project to empower rural women, both economically and
socially, enabling them to start income generating micro enterprise
that will improve their quality of life. The economic independence
will improve a woman’s self-dignity, confidence level and ensure for
her a better position in both family and social level. |

Environment |

Conservation of environment through mitigation of soil
and water pollution due to open air defecation, prevent use of
excessive chemical fertiliser and pesticides, introduction of eco
friendly organic farming and vermi-compost, rain water harvesting
and afforestation, crop rotation and nutritional kitchen
gardening. |

Human Rights |

Sabuj Sangha is not an advocacy organisation on human
rights issue, but through its issue based interventions on behalf of
children and women tries to uphold their social and constitutional
rights at the same time make people aware of the same to bring about
a holistic social change. |

Family Food Security |
 |
|
Sabuj Sangha believes that ensuring family food security
is an important input to fight poverty, more so, when population
pressure, pressure of globalisation use of chemical dependent high
yielding hybrid seed variety is gradually constricting the market
for small farmers. Sabuj Sangha working on skill and indigenous
technology upgradation of cultivation method to help small farmers
make optimum use of limited land and water body assets. |

Model Village |

In India most rural village villages lack, basic
infrastructures in respect of healthcare, hygiene and sanitation,
safe drinking water, electrification and education that can provide
a quality life. Sabuj Sangha’s “Model Village Concept” a pilot
endeavour to develop infrastructurally self-sufficient villages as
replicable models of rural development ensuring good quality of life
for its inhabitants. |

Relief & Rehabilitation |

The estuarine delta region, the rural operational area of
Sabuj Sangha, is subject to recurrence of large scale flooding. from
tidal upsurge and seasonal rains. The situation has made relief work
a focus area for the organisation. Rehabilitation of victims, in
both habitat and occupational security attracts similar priority,
but more planning and sustained funding.

Primary Teachers' Training Institute |

Contributing to the Government's objective to provide
primary education for all by 2010, Sabuj Sangha has set up a primary
Teachers' Training Institute by bridging the gap between the growth
in Student strength and availability of trained Primary School
teachers at approved ratio. Started in 2004 the Institute has
graduated 100 trainees of the fast batch, all scoring first class
marks. |

Advocacy Network |

A social development agency cannot live or flourish in
isolation and Sabuj Sangha is not an exception. It is a strong
advocate of Government and non government agency collaboration,
linkages with Government line departments, forming net work with
like minded CVOs, NGOs, clubs and welfare bodies to exchange ideas,
visions, development strategies and consider formulating a holistic
non overlapping holistic development plan. |
