1st Anniversary of Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan (RHTC)

The first anniversary of Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan was held at Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan campus on 11th October, 2007 in presence of distinguished dignitaries from all strata of the society. We had Ms Sanghamitra Ghosh; District magistrate,24Pgs(S), Mr. Kanti Bhusan Gangopadhaya; Honorable Minister of Sunderban Development Authority, Mr. Jogeyashwar Das; Honorable member of state legislative assembly, Patharpratima block, Mr. Neil Haran; Country Director, GOAL India, Dr Aamabasu Das; Deputy CMOH-III, 24 Pgs(S), Mrs. Manisha Mukherjee; BDO, Mathurapur-II, Mr. Haripada Samanta; President, Patharpratima region, Mr. Adhir Chandra Pal; Pradhan, Nandakumar Gram Panchayat, Mr. Gokul Bor, Representative, Achintayanagar GP, Mr. Kanailal Das, Pradhan, Laxmijanardanpur GP and Mr. Ansuman Das, Secretary, Sabuj Sangha and all the staff  of the organization.

This program was organized with the aims and objectives to share the experience of Sabuj Sangha with the government and non-government institution as well as to build up a partnership with these institutions to provide better health care facilities and to mobilize different government health schemes for the neglected community as well as for the destitute families. It also had an objective to project Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan as a unique model in community health program.





 

The program had started with the inaugural speech of Mr. Ansuman Das, Secretary, and Sabuj Sangha. Mr. Das declared that Sabuj Sangha would provide free health cards to all 400 destitute families. He also said that in partnership with government Sabuj Sangha would be able to cover every individual of the Sunderban region. He express gratitude to Mr. Neil Haran, representative, GOAL India who meticulously facilitated to set up the Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan at Nandakumarpur.   

Mr. Kanti Bhusan Gangopadhaya, Honorable Minister of Sunderban Development Authority, highly appreciated Sabuj Sangha to materialize this kind of health program in the remote area of Sunderban. He also agreed that Government could not be able to provide the entire health support program in all the remote areas with his infrastructure and it could be possible if the government and non-government institution performed jointly. He also promised to build number of bridges to make communication more viable to the community as well as provided free treatment facility to more than 100 pregnant mothers through Govt. scheme. He also inaugurated the operation theater of Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan as well as free health cards distribution process to destitute families.

 Ms. Sanghamitra Ghosh, DM, 24 Pgs(S) addressed that the Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan should maintain properly and every individual had responsibility to uphold this institution. She also told that partnership between government and non-government institution could be able to make the health institution more equipped and efficient, she also added that the organization should maintain its aim and objective till the end.

Mr. Neil Haran told that Swarnalata Sabuj Seva Sadan in Nandakumarpur had full filled nearly all the criteria to become a model Health centre and in future GOAL would provide Sabuj Sangha all kind of necessary support to run health institution efficiently.

Dr Aamabasu Das, Deputy CMOH-III addressed that the BPL card holders not well informed about their facilities which had been given by government, particularly for them. He said that it would be our responsibility to aware them and provide them all the necessary information. He also addressed that we would focus on institutionalize delivery as much as possible to reduce maternal and infant mortality.

 Mr. Jogeyshwar Das, Member of State legislative assembly, Patharpratima told that the health program should be much more integrated day by day and the community should play a major role to make it more productive. 

The ceremony was ended after the distribution of the free treatment card to some of the destitute families by Mr. Ansuman Das, Secretary of Sabuj Sangha.

Health Fair was organized on 30th of December 2007 with the objective to

1. To disseminate information regarding available services at RHTC.
2. To propagate health and hygiene practices.
3. To publicized government health services available for people
4. To share pivotal component of good health
5. To share information on mother and child health

The fair was crowded with population of more than 5000 peoples, it started with the inauguration by Mr. Sachidananda Sarkar, CMO, South 24 parganas, Many eminent personalities including Mr. Anshuman Das, secretary Sabuj Sangha were present on that particular day. Stalls relating to health had been put up, so that the people be aware about the health and hygiene practices. Community peoples from different villages attended this fair, there were also discussions held on the topic of Safe Motherhood and the role of NGO. On the podium many eminent personalities spoke about the different aspects of health.
Volunteers were there in each stall to educate the mass about the health related problems and their eradication .Finally the fair ended with success and pomp.

 
 
   

 

 

Livelihood Fair was organized on 31st of December

Livelihood Fair was organized on 31st of December with the objective to
1. To share know - how of potential livelihood option
2. To impart know how of cost effective rural technologies.
3. To publicized government as well as Sabuj Sangha’s initiative
     taken in the field of livelihood


Mr Yogeshwar Das, MLA Pather Pratima, inaugurated the Livelihood Fair. Along with him eminent personalities like MLA Mr. Pradip Halder BDO Pather Pratima, Mr. Sridhar Ghosh Secretary Sunderban Development Board, Mr.Anshuman Das, secretary Sabuj Sangha along with 30000 crowds were present in the arena. Mr Yogeshwar spoke about the different options of livelihood and how to enhance it for a proper development of the socio economic condition of the people. Many eminent personalities also spoke regarding the subject. Stalls with models of livelihood were kept for the people to see and volunteers were deputed to make them understand the concepts. There was also a seminar held to discuss on the topic Sustainable Livelihood option in Sunderban – Prospect, Problems & Potentiality” which was participated by the eminent guest as well as the community people
Lastly Video show was organized with a view of dissemination of information among the people. Several documentaries were shown to the viewers on Function of PRI, Gram Unnayan Samiti, benefits of being SHG member, management of Poultry farm, Features of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme etc.

 
 
 
   

 

Giving Day Ceremony was organized in the campus of Sabuj Sangha

Giving Day Ceremony was organized in the campus of Sabuj Sangha on 12th December 2007 with great success. Peoples of different community and villages were invited for this grand occasion; nearly 3000 peoples had turned up for this occasion. Mr.Tapan Roy, Minister of Library. was the Chief Guest for this occasion apart from that many eminent personalities like Professor Vidyanand Jha from IIM, Kolkata, Representative of Ireland, Representative of Goal, Head of Gram Panchayat and Anshuman Das, secretary Sabuj Sangha also were present. Mr. Tapan Roy inaugurated the ceremony and in his speech described about the upliftment of people of Sunderban area and specially thanked the community for their contribution also, Mr Anshuman in his speech described the achievement done by Sabuj Sangha within the communities and the future plan also, Ms Sadhbh Coyle, from SUAS and Mr. Sujoy Chowdhury from GOAL also thanked the community peoples for their participation. The community also contributed some amount of money for the welfare of the people on the same day.

It was followed by cultural programme at night, eminent personalities from the field of music and arts performed and was well acclaimed by the peoples. There was also performance from the school children and the community members. Finally the curtain ended with a great success.
