History & Growth

Sabuj Sangha was established in 1954 at Nandakumarpur village of Mathurapur II Block of South 24 Parganas and got registered under West Bengal Socities Registration Act in 1975 and under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act in 1992.

From the time of establishment till 1975 the main activities were like organising cultural events and games and sports Mr. Shiv Sankar Giri, the present President of the Organisation was then the main backbone of the Club. After the registration, it gradually started taking up various reconstruction work mainly with a People's Participatory Process. However, there is no denying of the fact that the financial assistance certainly provide a catalytic agent for hastening the rural reconstruction work as rural areas like ours really were deficient in capital resources.

Administrative Building

Over a decade of experimentation with top down planning and project implementation our Organisation came in touch with SPAR in 1997 and sustainable rural development through a non traditional alternative development approach. With that vision village level people's organisation have been developed in our operational area and the main mission of the organisation is to create an environment to enable people to achieve overall well being of masses restoring and sustaining the productive natural resource base of the area.
